It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here. I’ve been getting more involved in the startup scene here in St. Louis. There are some interesting developments going on with T-REX the startup incubator as they expand into new digs, as well with the as Arch Grants.
I was at a meet up the other night at Lab1500 to learn more about Mongo DB. The presenter is an architect at Pushup Social, another STL startup. I was a good overview of the product (plus I got a new coffee cup) and afterwards I got some first-hand updates on LaunchCode and met their first “success story”. One of the things I hear over and over is the lack of developers here in the silicon prairie, so a program like LaunchCode is extremely valuable…if they can find the candidates.
All in all St Louis isn’t looking too shabby in terms of startup activity.
In other news, my project is progressing. I can’t say too much as my Big Blue Brother is always watching and listening but it’s safe to say that I’m juggling Java, DB2, WebSphere in the day and Django, Objective-c, MySql (and soon Node.js and Mongo) at night. It’s enough to make one’s head spin…what’s the syntax for…again? More developments on all that later.
